Why Ethics?

Studying Ethics is important for the following reasons:

  • Ethics might play perhaps the most important role in your success in the UPSC exam. If you study and prepare ethics properly, then the least amount of study may give you the maximum marks in ethics. Ethics may play more important role than any other part of your syllabus.
  • Knowledge of ethics will help you in your preparation of many other parts of your syllabus as well, such as Essay, Polity, Social Issues, Governance, International Relations, Economics etc.
  • Ethics is specially relevant for Essay. For the last few years, more than half of the essays asked in the UPSC Mains Exam are from our classroom.
  • Knowledge of Ethics (particularly Emotional Intelligence etc.) will also help you in better self-management which will further help you to prepare well in your overall study.
  • Once you become a Civil Servant, then a good knowledge of ethics will help you to become a good and successful Civil Servant as well.
  • Last, but not the least, knowledge of ethics will also help you to become a better human being, to live a good, happy and satisfactory life, and to develop, maintain and nurture better relationships in your lifeā€”both private and public life.
